While we where at the Le Garage Sale, Abby and I had the pleasure of meeting talented Austin jewelry designer, Allison Taylor. Out of all the jewelry designers at the event, we were most impressed with Allison and her beautifully delicate and feminine designs. We decided we needed to interview Allison for Stylehouse 512.

Here’s why we think you should get to know Allison Taylor:

Allison Taylor grew up in Marietta, a suburb outside of Atlanta, GA. Soon after graduating from Georgia State University with a degree in business and art, Allison packed her bags and moved to Austin.

Allison has been living in Austin for almost seven years now and loving it! Shortly after moving she started a career in technology sales and did that successfully for four years. Allison says, “I grew tired of the corporate world and wanted to put all my hard work towards something creative that I could call me own. I took a jewelry class at a local jewelry store and knew I had something. I quit my job and started making a collection, within a few months I had my debut at Estilo, and its been going full speed since then.”

Allison has been artistic and expressive ever since she was little and she’s always wanted to own her own business. The inspiration for her jewelry designs comes from her own desire for high quality investment pieces that are versatile and easy to wear- something that goes with everything and can be thrown on quickly. Allison responds, “I see beauty in everything around me.  I tend to pull a lot of inspiration from nature and my own personal style... If I'm really into oversized shirts and boho looks, I'll make lots of long draping necklaces.  Lately, I have been really inspired by 70's glam, so I've been focusing on really bold colors like orange and vibrant pinks.  After cutting my hair really short, I have been all about the statement earring, which will be coming soon in my next collection.”

Allison’s jewelry designs can be best described as fresh, modern, feminine, delicate & easy to wear. After asking Allison what her personal fashion style is, she replies, “My style is pretty practical. I don't have a large wardrobe. Instead, I invest in a few really nice structured pieces with unique tailoring and neutral colors. I balance my nice wardrobe pieces with inexpensive pieces from places like Strut, Beehive, and Forever21. Then, I really play up the accessories and shoes! My favorite look is a figure-hugging dress, a cute belt, and boots or sandals that pop. Lately, I have been really inspired by bold colors like corals and fuchsias, and feminine touches, like low V-necks and sheer silks. I keep everything really lightweight and breathable to fit the Austin lifestyle.”

When Allison isn’t designing jewelry she loves spending time with her fiancé, Lary, and their dog, Leia, taking walks, traveling, cooking and hanging out with friends. Allison also has a fashion/style/ work blog: taylormoseleyjewelry.wordpress.com.

Allison’s jewelry can be purchased at these Austin boutiques: Mana Culture, Estilo, Esty Skin Studio, Sanctuary, Dolce Blu and Dolce Baby. You can also order unique pieces from her web site: www.taylormoseley.com.
